NDUGA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Thursday, 19 September 2024, the 503 Task Forces conducted Social Communication (Komsos) with residents of Kenyam District while conducting areal protection tasks.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the community, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, Commander of the 503 Task Forces, stressed the importance of the Task Forces’ focus on the community's fundamental needs in the assigned area. Therefore, on Thursday, the Soldiers took advantage of the protection tasks through interaction and communication with Kenyam residents. The interaction followed through packages distribution from the Indonesian Chief of Army (Kasad), General Maruli Simanjuntak, to Kenyam residents.

While maintaining their focus on security, the Soldiers took the opportunity to communicate in harmony with the craftsmen. In this communication, LtCol Gurbasa who attended the occasion on himself, conveyed the Kasad’s mandate who provided packages of Bibles, guitars, and a set of worship equipment. These items were provided to support the smooth implementation of worship for the Kenyam residents. In response to the package’s distribution, Reverend Isak Murib as a Kenyam Religious Figure and representing the Kenyam residents expressed their happiness. Reverend Isak Murib's impression, "Thank you, Bapak Kasad for the packages we received. We, the residents of Kenyam, are very happy about these free packages. God always protects and blesses all Soldiers." This heartwarming response from the residents underscores the impact of the Army's efforts, as well as the unity and support in the assigned area, providing a sense of reassurance and security.
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 503 Task Forces’ initiative to communicate socially with the Kenyam residents and the distribution of Kasad’s packages. His words: "The 503 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive social communication with all stakeholders to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development, instilling profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively.
